Wayne’s Place is the inspirational legacy of Wayne Costello combined with the dedication of Head Chef Aupu and his family to create an inclusive café culture representing Leichhardt community values.
A well-developed plate starts with a well-developed palate. Chef Aupu was trained as an apprentice chef in a traditional Italian family-owned restaurant in Balmain after starting a career in hospitality as a kitchenhand. His origin of Bangladesh and eclectic influences from working with Italian, Greek, Chinese, and Middle-Eastern cuisines have further developed his preference for Modern Australian food.
Supporting and investing in our local community of Leichhardt through food connections is the primary purpose of Wayne’s Place.
